Epoxy Composites

Epoxy Flooring

New Epoxy Division Technologies

VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding) or Liquid Resin Infusion is a composite manufacturing process in which the dry fibers are laid on the tool and vacuum sealed and the liquid resin is drawn through with a vacuum pump to create rotor wind blades. Liquid resin technology provides for lower cost and lower cure temperatures. Since the liquid resin techniques do not require curing cycles over 60°C, the tooling for the blades is much easier to construct. Liquid resin infusion almost always forms a uniform composite of nearly ideal 65 percent fiberglass to 35 percent resin by weight.

Infrastructure Retrofit is used for seismic upgrade, blast protection and composite repair of conventional concrete/rebar structures that are failing. The infrastructure market segment has grown nearly 100% per year and now represents about 35% of non-wind epoxy sales. An added bonus in this market is that many of its existing epoxy clients can use Rhino Linings urethane formulations.

CIPP (Cured In Place Pipe) clients start at the grass roots level with several thousands corporate and independent plumbers performing repairs on home size sewer lines using a no dig technology that forms a pipe within a pipe. Large, municipality and utility scale users are also taking advantage of this technology. CIPP now represent about 25% of the non-wind epoxy sale and growing every day.

Rhino Epoxy Products

RHINO 1409R-2
Epoxy for NSF 61, Underwater Cure

SUGGESTED USES: Filament winding, hand lay-up laminating, underwater cure (with appropriate Rhino Hardeners), NSF 61 potable water applications such as CIPP, and structural repair of concrete used for water conveyance. Proprietary epoxy resin blend, 100% solids.

PRIMER 1500
Water Based Epoxy Primer

SUGGESTED USES: Flooring and tank lining applications.
DESCRIPTION: Rhino 1500 clear two-part water based epoxy primer is easy to mix, easy to use, and provides superior results. It is applied over concrete and many other substrates by brush, or roller. Rhino 1500 dries quickly, usually tack free within 1-2 hours. The material has a long working life (3 hours) this allows larger batches to be mixed. The material cleans up easily with soap and water from tools and hands.

RHINO 1501
Water Based Epoxy Coating

DESCRIPTION: Rhino 1501 water based epoxy coating system is easy to mix as it uses equal volumes of the resin and hardener. It applies easily over most substrates by brushing or rolling. 1501dries quickly, usually tack free within 1 - 2 hours. The material has a long pot life (3 hours) this allows larger batches to be mixed. The material cleans up easily with soap and water from tools and hands. Available in standard industrial colors. VOC compliant in all municipalities.

RHINO 2300
100% Solids Epoxy Coating

SUGGESTED USES: Flooring and tank lining applications.
DESCRIPTION: Rhino 2300 100% solids epoxy coating system is easily mixed using the industry standard 2:1 by volume ratio of resin to hardener. It applies easily over concrete substrate by brush, roller, notched trowel, or squeegee. Rhino 2300 dries quickly, usually tack free within 4 - 6 hours. Available in clear and standard industrial colors.

RHINO 4109R-1
Epoxy Hardener

SUGGESTED USES: Filament winding, hand lay-up laminating, underwater cure (with appropriate Rhino Resins), NSF 61 potable water applications such as CIPP, and structural repair of concrete used for water conveyance. 100% solids, cycloaliphatic amine blend.

RHINO 9700 NOVOLAC
Epoxy Novolac Coating System

SUGGESTED USES: Flooring and tank lining applications.
DESCRIPTION: 9700 Novolac is a high quality epoxy novolac coating system with chemical, high temperature, and abrasion resistance superior to Bis-A type epoxy resins. This tightly cross-linked system cures in the presence of moisture and humidity with excellent mechanical properties. It contains no solvents (100% solids, zero VOC) or carcinogens and has minimal odor and toxicity that assures ease of application. 9700’s viscosity is well suited for vertical applications. 9700 Novolac is typically stocked in gray.
